Academic Roles

Advisory Roles

CPS staff have been appointed to the following advisory roles:

  • Member of the ABS International AntiBiotic Strategies project in Austria, Belgium, and Germany in the design and analysis of antibiotic use indicators
  • Advisor to the Taiwan Ministry of Health and Taiwan University's College of Public Health in the design and testing of local health care accountability models
  • Scientific Advisor to the World Health Organization (WHO) Europe office for the design and implementation of performance indicators through the Performance Assessment Tool for quality improvement in Hospitals (PATH)
  • National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems Performance Measures Advisory Board member
  • Consultant to Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System for a quality assurance project improving the registration of the Emergency Rooms
  • Member of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Technical Expert Panel set up by the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care to explore and discuss various options for analyzing and reporting health care quality measures to consumers nationwide
  • Advisor to the Vereinigung für Qualitätssicherung und Quälitatsförderung im Gesundheitswesen (VQG), Zurich, Switzerland
  • The World Bank Project for Systematic Review of Performance of Health Organizations in Low and Middle Income Countries
  • Advisor to the American International Health Alliance (AIHA) on the development of performance measures within Eastern European health care systems
  • Advisor on statewide quality measurement to the Michigan Hospital Association and the Michigan Blue Cross and Blue Shield
  • Advisor to the Health Care Finance Administration (HCFA) on the development of quality indicators for the care of Medicare patients
  • Advisor to the Prudential Health Care Obstetrical/Gynecological Quality Improvement Committee

Upcoming Conferences

  • CPS President, Dr. Vahé Kazandjian, will be the Special Speaker at the 2010 International Joint Conference in Health (IJCH), hosted by the Taiwan College of Healthcare Executives (TCHE), Taiwan Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation (TJCHA), Taiwan Hospital Association (THA), Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry, and Taipei Medical University (TMU) in Taipei, Taiwan, July 15 - 16, 2010.
  • The WHO Collaborating Center for Development of Quality and Safety in Health Systems, supported by the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe, will hold the PATH International Conference in Brijuni, Croatia September 23 - 25, 2010. Dr. Vahe Kazandjian, CPS President, will give a presentation on the topic of International comparisons on quality indicators and what can be learned from them. Dr. Kazandjian will also attend, as a Member of the Board, a meeting of the Scientific Board of PATH.
